    Review and History

The Port of Becancour sits at the confluence of the Saint Lawrence and Becancour Rivers in the region of Quebec in Canada. It is Quebec’s first combined city, being formed in 1965 from 11 municipalities when it became Quebec’s largest city. Today, it is divided into six sectors near the shore of the Saint Lawrence River. The Port of Becancour’s economy was based on agriculture until the 1970s when industry and manufacturing interests located there. Its major industries include manufacturers of magnesium, aluminum, petroleum products, and refractory metals. The city is home to an annual hot air balloon festival, a maritime pumpkin race, and a weekly public market.
